भारतीय दंड संहिता 1860 की धारा 377 के अनुसार,
प्रकृति विरुद्ध अपराध – जो कोई, किसी पुरुष, स्त्री या जीव-जंतु के साथ प्रकृति की व्यवस्था के विरुद्ध स्वेच्छया इन्द्रियभोग करेगा, वह आजीवन कारावास से, या दोनों में से किसी भाँति के कारावास से, जिसकी अवधि दस वर्ष तक की हो सकेगी, दंडित किया जाएगा और और जुर्माने से भी दंडनीय होगा।
स्पष्टीकरण – इस धारा में वर्णित अपराध के लिये आवश्यक इन्द्रिय-भोग गठित करने के लिये प्रवेशन पर्याप्त है।
According to Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code 1860,
Unnatural offences — Whoever voluntarily has carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal, shall be punished with imprisonment for life, or with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine.
Explanation — Penetration is sufficient to constitute the carnal intercourse necessary to the offence described in this section.
